Have you found yourself sitting in your office waiting for the phone to ring? Feeling sorry for yourself because business is just not what it was last year? Well, it’s time to do something about it....but how?
Get out there! I know that cold calling is not everyone’s favorite pastime, but it is a very important part of making your business grow. Hit the streets and introduce yourself to your fellow business people around town. You’d be surprised how many people you already know who have no idea what you do or what services your company can provide to them. Leave a business card and maybe a brochure behind. That cold call may not lead to business today, but it may tomorrow. Visit with those same people again in several months to remind them that you are still here and willing to help if your services are needed.
Not willing to cold call? Well, there are other things that you can do. Do a monthly teaser postcard mailing to your client base. Remind them of your services. Write a note thanking them for their business or call a client asking for a referral. Your current clients are your best source of future business. It is up to you to make sure a client doesn’t forget you.
Another option is networking. Get involved in local organizations. Meet your fellow business people in a networking or a social setting. Volunteer for a committee and help out with a project going on in town.
The more you are out there, the more you will be remembered. So get out of the office....do something positive. Grow your business,,..it’s up to you and no one else!
